Like a rock- a breakfast rock smothered in salt and ketchup.

This morning we woke up bright and early, got dressed, and headed out to Big Boy for breakfast.  The Hubs and I are trying to start a family tradition of fun breakfasts on Saturday mornings, and since he has this Saturday off, he was chomping at the bit to take it up a notch beyond our usual Big Apple Bagel run and actually head out for a fun family breakfast on the town.

In the dim light of the early morning, Newbie watched his Daddy-O pack up and get ready to head out.  We were all stunned with amazement, really, because the Hubs is NOT an early bird, and we were shocked to see him bustling about the house wrangling everyone and everything into place so we could have breakfast together.  I'm telling you, it was a sight to behold- even Opie was impressed!

Breakfast was a lot of fun.  I love sipping restaurant coffee out of restaurant mugs and downing a heavy breakfast of eggs and hash browns and hot cakes that is sure to hit like a rock as soon as we walk out the doors.  I'm a "go big or go home" kinda gal when it comes to breakfast out. No yogurt or granola for me.  If its breakfast on the road, then somebody better pull up the U-Haul, because this lady's gonna order the Breakfast Blockbuster every time.

Mmm Mmm....yogurt.

Breakfast out was a nice way to soften the blow of a very whiny yesterday and to kick off a fresh start to the weekend.  Yesterday started out well with a great nap and some house cleaning.

Is there anything in the world sweeter than a sleeping baby?

Turns out having a baby is the best thing I ever did, because I don't have to dust anymore!

After the house cleaning and lunch, however, things took a turn for the worse.  I don't know if it was him or me or the cosmos just happened to align askew, but Newbie and I had a rough go yesterday afternoon/evening.  There was lots of whining and fussing and yelling, and I can't remember just which one of us did which or who started it.  By the time he woke up fussing at midnight last night, I was begging the Hubs for a few hours to myself on Saturday.  Which is awesome.  Because he said yes.  And today, my friends, is Saturday.

After a week of the Hubs being sick followed by a week of Baby Boy being sick, sometimes a mama just needs to leave the boys at home and hit up the Clinique counter for some new makeup and Buy Buy Baby for some fun shopping.  And that's the plan.  In fact, my chariot awaits me, and I need to bust outta here before the Hubs vetoes the situation and tells me he's not up for flying solo for a little while.

I've gotta run and catch my break while I can- y'all have a fabulous weekend!

I Heart Saturdays

As I type on the laptop, the Hubs is playing some kind of "saddle up your horses, cowpokes, let's go get us some bison" video game, and the poor imitation of Southern accents coming out of the mouths of these animated video game cowboys are making me gag.  "Jis like yew, lil' lay-die, a reel sweethart."  But turns out if the Hubs doesn't "deliver Sam's letter to Armadillo" we might not see the light of another day, so he's pressing on while I tap away at the keys and grumble about how long it takes to upload pictures because UPLOAD ALREADY.

I snapped a few pictures of my little man today while we were hanging out over at Grandad's house enjoying a more than lazy Saturday.  I love lazy Saturdays.  We missed the Hubs because he had to work today, but Newbie had a ball riding Griffin like a bucking bronco and munching on the Gerber Puffs G-Mama bought for him.

Looking at those big blue eyes is like drinking a cookies 'n cream milkshake...I just want to slurp and slurp until the straw is making that obnoxious gasping noise scraping against the farthest edges at the bottom of the styrofoam cup because I want to be sure I get every last drop.  I just can't get enough of those baby blues!

Sluuurrrrp!

In other news...ever had one of those days when you just can't get the Puffs jar open fast enough?

Yeah, he has too.

But don't worry, he recovered as soon as I popped open the lid.  That little guy has been eating like crazy lately- there's no slowing this man down.

Speaking of eating, I'm off to watch this week's episode of The Biggest Loser with the Hubs.  We know how to rock out a Saturday night, I tell you what. I can't say it won't involve a homemade ice cream sandwich, because watching Biggest Loser just isn't as fun if you aren't eating something slightly scandalous.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
