Whoa.

Whoa.

That little pregnancy ticker on the right says: "I am 39 weeks pregnant. About 7 more days to go."

Only 7 more days?

Excuse me while I go have a freak-out moment.

And maybe a milkshake.

Steak Night

Tonight we are having steak.

It is a rainy, dreary day, and we needed a pick me up. Goodness knows American Idol isn't going to do it for us tonight. Still not a big fan of this season, but I'm putting my vote in for Lee. The results show is like trying to walk through a river of molasses. Could. We. Drag. This. Out. Any. Longer?

So tonight steak is the name of the game. And we'll probably sing the "Steak Night" song because we just looove us a good steak.

The steaks are compliments of my parents, who stuffed them in a bag and into our arms as we left their house Sunday night. I think I heard them exclaim "Enjoy a nice dinner together! You won't get to do it again for a looong time!" or something of that nature.

We're trying to squeeze in as many candle lit dinners as we can these days because we know our date nights are numbered. So the candles are lit, the salads are made, potatoes are in the oven, and the A-1 sauce is ready to roll. Afterwards, we will probably have a romantic evening filled with American Idol and a rousing discussion regarding Chet and his recent return to our lives. The prodigal squirrel.

The glamorous life of newlyweds awaits me.

The Nesting

So my nesting has officially gone cyber. I have nothing left to do in my house. Everything is done, and I walk around wearing the same clothes everyday to be sure all of my laundry is finished when we leave for the hospital. Not really. But maybe.

The carpets are clean, the vacuum is clean, all of my drapes and windows are clean.

My dishes are clean, my sheets are clean, my shower is clean.

Everything is clean. Even the bottoms of our shoes got the Lysol treatment. Not really. But maybe.

So I've migrated into the world wide web to see what I can clean and organize in the virtual world, which led to this fun new spring look. Because who doesn't love a good dose of happy looking flowers?

One day away from 39 weeks and I'm feeling good. No complaints from here. Just twiddling my thumbs, downing Lucky Charms, making Honey-Do lists, and getting in as much shopping as my swollen kankles (tmi? sorry. it happens.) will allow while I wait for my little man to make his appearance.

Here's to being early and not making Mama wait until next Thursday! Who knows what I will find to clean if I have to wait that long...

Rough Day for the Puggle

We were all minding our own business.

The Hubs was at work; I was at home with Opie.

The sky was dark and creepy and the thunder rolled, so I decided to take him outside before a torrential rain hit.

This was brave of me because I hate storms. Something about growing up in Texas traumatized me a little bit in the thunderstorm department.

There was Opie sniffing every blade of grass in the yard, trying to find juuust the right spot when we heard a CRASH! Followed by another CRASH! And another and another- CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!

I seriously thought somebody was throwing multiple wrenches at my car. And my garage. And my roof. And the neighbor's roof.

Opie started looking around in every direction, barking at each BANG! he heard. That's when I spotted the culprit: hail half the size of a golf ball landed smack dab in front of me. As soon as it registered, the sky opened up, and Opie and I were bombarded with the loudest, meanest hail I have ever seen. We took off sprinting across the yard, and he was FrEaKiNg out. The puggle's first hail experience was not a good one. He may never go outside to do his business again. Which will be a problem. Because he didn't even get a chance to go before we were attacked in the backyard. And because we just got our carpets cleaned.

When we came back inside, Opie sunk down into a corner and asked me if we could please just sit on the couch and watch TV today because what a not-so-fun morning that was. And I said yes, we can. So we're off to snuggle on the couch.

I hope you have a day free of hail and havoc!

Happy Easter!

Our Easter morning was a little anti-climatic before church because the Hubs and I didn't do Easter baskets....or Easter breakfast....or Easter cards for each other this year. We've been a little too busy keeping track of this baby to think about stopping by the store to fill eggs with candy. I'm not going to say I didn't miss my yearly quota of Reeses, but I think I have compensated lately with the Samoas, so I should make it. It was actually a nice change of pace- we spent time reflecting and enjoying the beautiful weather Sunday morning before church. I even threw caution to the wind and didn't worry about what our "Easter outfits" were going to be this year. It's a little hard to pull off a new Easter dress when you're carrying a watermelon on your waist. So we spent Easter focusing on what Easter is all about instead of cracking open the eggs and stuffing ourselves. Not that I wouldn't have thoroughly enjoyed that...it was just nice to avoid distractions on such a special day.

HOWEVER, in an UNPRECEDENTED move, we both got dressed, looked at each other, and MATCHED. We never EVER match, so it was cause for pause and celebration. Coordinating outfits on Easter Sunday without any effort at all. I'm going to stop trying to hard the rest of the year.

After a great service at church, we went over to my parents' house for a delicious lunch of hot dogs and a fantastic dinner of BBQ ribs. Mmm... So yummy. I don't know why I didn't inherit the brilliant cook gene. My mom's hot dogs and ribs blew the Raisin Bran Crunch I made for breakfast out of the water.

That afternoon, the menfolk went out to play golf and my mom and I sat and talked while we waited for the sibs to show up. We took some time before the guys left to take a few pics of this ever-growing belly, reasoning that we're just not sure how much longer this little boy is going to hang out in there, and WOW that thing is huge, so let's be sure to get some pictures. I will most likely forever regret posting pics of my belly at 7+ months pregnant, but I figure it's kind of protocol in situations like these. You know, growing a baby and all is kind of a big deal. =)

And here's that 38 week picture to replace the mental one you had to create on your own for the last post:

Can't wait to meet our little spring chicken!

In other news...today is cleaning day for me, and I've made a profound discovery. When cleaning, I have found that it is much easier to "work as if working for the Lord and not for men" if I'm listening to worship music as I go. Helps me stay focused and remember to worship Him at all times. PROFOUND. This will change my life as a housewife. Somehow I don't mind scrubbing the Lord's dirty kitchen sink nearly as much as I despise washing mine. =)

Girls' Day Out

Today my mama and I went out on the town.
We spent the morning at the spa, then hit up Target and Babies R Us. We threw a Hobby Lobby and Costco run in for good measure.

One pedicure and a pair of new cotton capris later, I'm feelin' real good. =)

What. Happened. Here?

Pre-Pregnancy
No baby bump. But still a tendency to flock towards the food. Gotta love a roasted marshmallow. Little did I know that in a few short months this marshmallow fetish would evolve into a full-blown Lucky Charms addiction.

3 Weeks
Yes, at 3 weeks pregnant, before I had any idea there was a little somebody inside me, I was rolling with the big dogs launching myself down a massive slip -n slide. Like my daddy always said, "Make memories. Live hard." Poor Newbie.

4 Weeks
At our good friends' wedding. The night before we found out we were pregnant. No wonder I felt so icky during the limo ride...

Still 4 weeks
I just can't pass up the opportunity to post a pic of me and the Hubs post-Hannah Montana HoeDown Throwdown at our friends' wedding reception. Between that and the Thriller routine we pulled off, Newbie already knows some seriously groovy dance moves.

5 Weeks
First came the news.

Then came the reaction to the news.

8 Weeks
There was a tan and a trip to the Caribbean. And pirates. And apparently I still felt like a bathing suit was do-able. *sigh*

Newbie at 8 weeks...what a little gummy bear!

16 Weeks
Oh, 16 week baby bump. You cute little thing. You are greatly missed.

20 Weeks
At our 20 week ultra sound when we found out Newbie was a BOY!

Newbie at 20 weeks

21 Weeks
I had a small love affair with cranberry sauce for a good three weeks after Thanksgiving. This was the first batch with a side of baby bump.

23 Weeks
Christmas time when I thought I was huge, (GUFFAW!) and we discovered Newbie was the size of the Hubs' snowboarding Santa.

27 Weeks
The glorious week when I gave up on trying to pull myself together and opted to wear the velour suit to the grocery store. Not one of my finer pregnant hours.

33 Weeks
Aww...still a fan of Opie and still fitting into my maternity clothes. Those were the days.

36 weeks
It was at this point becoming evident that I was going to severely regret all of those Dairy Queen drive-thru runs. The only thing is, it's hard to regret it when you are still preggo and want an Oreo Blizzard RIGHT NOW.

37 Weeks
Full term and rooting for that little boy to make an appearance before I pop. Soon. Please.

Sorry to keep you hanging in suspense, but there are no 38 week pictures yet. Because the men's basketball shorts and messy pony tail I'm sporting today don't make for great pregnancy belly documentation. So you'll just have to visualize last week's picture plus: one Oreo Blizzard, a 1/2 ounce per day gained by Newbie, and the inevitable effects of sitting on the couch for a week because waddling is a lot of work. Waala! There's your 38 Week mental picture. =)

And now we wait. Pre-pregnancy to Dairy Queen domination has been a long exciting road. I'm ready to get off this bus and meet my baby boy! And maybe work out. A little. Because picture 1 in this post to picture 18 was a little bit of a shockER. Eh, there's always Spanx, right?

Update: After browsing through the above pics, I just have to ask myself: "What the heck is wrong with a little make up every once in a while, and will you please do something with your hair?!?!" That's all.
