Reset Button

We've been in a bit of a funk around here for the past 48 hours. Yesterday was a doozy.  It was a no-nap afternoon, and by three o'clock, we were four hours away from reinforcements and closing in on CrazyTown.

Newbie and I were squawking at each other, and I could feel my blood pressure rising.  Time out here, time out there.  Momma grumbling here, Momma grouching there.  It wasn't pretty.

So I hit the reset button.

We needed to start over.

And fast.

I stripped Newbie down to his dido and ransacked Daddy-O's can of shaving cream.  I raided the baking cupboard, swiping the food coloring, fumbled around the garage for a paintbrush, then got the party started.

One boy + one paint brush + shaving cream and a bathtub = reset button.

My mom heard via desperate text message from yours truly that yesterday was a rough go, so this morning she showed up at the door with a reset button even more exciting than shaving cream and a bathtub.  Hello, Starbucks iced coffee for Momma and a icing/sprinkle combo donut for Newbie.  It's very nice to meet you. 

Moms are the BEST.

Later today there was a lot of this happening:

All up in my biz while I was trying to clean and hack through my to-do list. I felt myself losing patience, despite the adorable sparkle in those bright blue eyes.  Shameful, is what it is.  Maybe its the weather?  We've had our first few rainy days in weeks and weeks, and I'm thinking maybe its getting under our skin.  Like we don't know what to do when its so gloomy outside so we just get our grump on.  Or in Newbie's case, he gets his "I'm Momma's shadow, gotta follow her every move" on.

Cue reset button.  Again.

This time it was green smoothie making with Momma.

("I eat it the leaf like a monkey!  Ooo! Ooo! OOO!")

I had to hit the reset again this afternoon after Newbie crashed for nap time.  Reset four times in less than 24 hours?  Uh...mmm...yeah. Just keeping it real, man.

A long morning of cleaning and a big weekend ahead will do that to you.  I was fried and frazzled, so I rummaged through the craft bucket I haven't touched in a year and scrounged up a project.  Never underestimate the power of a lack of attention to detail and a hot glue gun. I went to work on the lampshades I've abhorred for years and an hour later, this beauty was done:

I ran out of glue sticks, so I'm saving her for another rainy day when I need to reset and recoup.

The reset button is a beautiful thing.  Refreshing, restoring, relieving.

Anyone interested in joining me in taking this weekend to reset?  I'm hoping a nice weekend will keep me from having to compulsively push the reset button next week. =)
