We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

My life has changed. This morning my baby rolled over. With fervor.

And visions of him rolling his roly poly self all throughout my house hit me like a brick wall.

No more lying on his back in his bassinet while mama gets ready.

No more running to the kitchen for hummus while he lies on his mat cooing at all his rowdy friends.

No more letting him chill out in the middle of my bed while I put away laundry. Actually, while I pretend to put away laundry and instead watch tv.

We're not in Kansas anymore. From here on out, this guy is mobile. Sure, a slow, rolling kind of mobile, but mobile nonetheless. Have mercy.

I woke up this morning to Newbie's usual morning banter coming from the bassinet, but when I popped my head over the edge of his bed, I saw he was doing a face plant into the sheet with his belly facing upright...then he took a deep breath, whipped his right leg over his left and rolled right onto his belly. I snapped a pic with my high-quality cell phone camera to document his new talent:

We might just take this show on the road, folks.

Newbie was three months old on Wednesday, and I totally have a 3 month post, but I forgot my pictures (why am I losing my mind?!?) and I want to wait to post until I have the pics because a happy three month post just wouldn't be the same without my lame-O photography skills put on display.

In other news, you know what is great? When your son thinks you are the funniest thing ever. It is such an ego booster. I am just sayin'. I get laughs complete with bubbles and a really slobbery smile...this boy loves his mama's jokes.

He also loves slip-ons. And when I say "he loves slip-ons," I mean I love them. At least that's what we called them when we were kids...the shoes that look like tennis shoes but have no laces and look like they belong on a beach bum. He loves them. Shout out to the jellies and harachis of my childhood, because they were on the same level as slip-ons in my book. Jellies, harachis, and slip-ons...Pure shoe infatuation. Newbie sported a pair of whale slip-ons at the park last week, and today he has on some adorable surfer ones. I wonder how long my son will let me dress him in adorable shoes?

Speaking of adorable shoes, I have never been more excited about picking out my shoes than I have been this week when I found out the Hubs and I are on for a double date night. OH MY WORD. A DATE NIGHT?!?!?! Complete with dinner and a movie and dessert first with friends?!?! I haven't spent so much time planning an outfit since I was in high school and thought you couldn't repeat the same outfit more than once in a month. What would I have thought of myself if I knew then that the summer of 2010 would consist of the same pair of black shorts and one of three tank tops every day? Sorrowful. I am so happy to have a reason to do my hair and make-up tonight, I can't hardly stand it. And Cold Stone is involved. Tonight's gonna be a good night. (Please sing that Black Eyed Peas style and bob your head when you read that, because that's the way I hear it in my head.)

Yes, tonight's gonna be a good night. You just can't go wrong with dinner and a movie with a stud of a hubs and some good friends. Especially when that dinner is at On the Border and involves some seriously good Mexican food. Or as good as you can get up here in the North. It's no La Margarita of San Antonio, Texas, but we'll take it, on account of I'm a new mama and will do anything to get out of the house and eat some refried beans, no matter how unauthentic.

I'd also like to add that I love me some flour tortillas. I will eat them with butter and cinnamon or wrapped around a hot dog. Oh my gosh. Has a hot dog ever tasted better? No. It has not.

Why am I blogging about tortillas when I haven't blogged in a week?

I do have something of significance to share. This week I started a Beth Moore Bible study and I LOVE it. It's just a couple hours on Monday nights, and I'm not saying this is the only reason I went, but they served root beer floats. At Bible study. It was a good time. And Beth Moore is such a champ. I started reading my mom's copy of her new book, So Long Insecurity, You've Been a Bad Friend to Us this morning, and after 5 minutes had to call my mom and ask her if it was OK if I wrote all over it because it is just so good. And Beth Moore is so funny. The intro involved shooting rattlesnakes and praising the Lord. That right there is like a tortilla hot dog, my friends; it just doesn't get any better than that. I can't wait for next Monday night.

I guess I should get back to business. Meaning I need to go visit the closet and finalize my outfit plan for this evening and then hit up the fridge for a guilt-free, Jillian Micheals approved snack to munch on while I catch up on The Bachelorette. Yes, I have a very pressing summer schedule.

Oh, and here's another pic I found on my phone...I'm feeling guilty for not posting more pics lately. I promise I'll be back soon with some photographic evidence of recent happenings in our neck of the woods. Until then, or-voo-wah! That was suppose to be that French word that means something like "goodbye".

you had me at "blog"

It's turns out my life is not complete without my blog.

And my life has been incomplete.

We have been without computer access for far too long, and I'm having to make do by ransacking my mother's computer every few days just to verify that we still exist.

I just popped in my photo chip thing to upload pictures of the past few weeks only to find 679 photos. SIX HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE. I'm kinda banking on the line of thought that Mom wouldn't be too happy with 679 pictures on her computer, so I had to control myself and only upload 97.

I am sorry for your loss.

But I promise to make up for it as soon as my computer gets up and running again.

In the meantime, here is the past three weeks in a nutshell with no particular order or cohesiveness or sense at all:

*I saw Eclipse today with my mom. Can you back the camera up, like, 20 feet so I don't have to keep looking at vampire and werewolf nose hair? Please and thank you.

*My baby is wearing 6 month clothing. SIX MONTH. And he is in the 90th percentile for height and weight. Holey frijoles, we have a whopper on our hands, folks.

*Speaking of a whopper, we went fishing with L&J and their little kiddo Friday night. Newbie had a blast with his little buddy, J Jr., and even met his first fish. It was a small fish. And a slimy one.

*We spent 4th of July weekend at the cutest cottage ever. I never wanted to leave.

*Why does it smell like vinegar in here? Just saying.

*Opie ate sand at the cottage. A LOT of sand. Sand is not easy on the canine digestive track. Somebody get this dog some Activia (please sing that out loud like in the commercial when you read it, because that's the way I hear it in my head when I write it: "Activiaaaa.") That's all I have to say about that.

*This past Saturday my little fam attended a reunion picnic for the summer day camp/day care I used to work at. It was a blast, and I brought watermelon.

*I love gold metallic flip-flops.

*Newbie is talking a lot now. And he's getting better at screaming.

*I still love Oreo Blizzards, but have vowed to have only one more for the summer. I have a Blizzard frequency card that I have filled up. When I realized I had eaten so many that I earned myself a free one, I decided it was time for an intervention. Because for crying out loud, NOTE TO SELF: YOU HAD THIS BABY THREE MONTHS AGO STOP EATING ICE CREAM.

*I miss you. I miss the blog world like I'm going to miss Oreo Blizzards for the unforeseen amount of time between now and the next time I get pregnant so I have an excuse to eat them again. *Tear*

*It is hot here. Like, mega-watt hot. There are not enough air conditioning window units in the world to cool our house down. Ugg.

*We went to church today for the first time in forever due to being out of town and having a newborn and all. It was so nice to be back. I missed church even more than I missed blogging, and that's a whole stinking lot.

*Opie is still a moron. I just thought I'd throw that one in here so there's no confusion. He has, however, managed to loose all of the weight he gained this winter...which begs the question, "what does that make me???"

Here are a few more pics of our stay at the cottage and one of Newbie on his first fishing adventure...he hit the high seas in his stroller. All the cool kids are doing it.

I'm baaAAack...kinda

I'm here (barely)!

I miss you (a lot)!

I know I've been MIA (for two weeks), and I'm sorry (really).

We've been swept up in post-wedding hullabaloo, and we spent the better half of my time away at a beautiful cottage on the lake. I haven't even been to see Eclipse if that is any indication of how busy busy busy we've been. I mean, it would take a lot to keep me from a girls' night with Edward and the gang. And there was a lot. Because I have yet to have that girls' night.

I have a GAZILLION pictures and posts to share, but for now I'll post a few from my newly married bro while I figure out how to get all of my other pics posted...

If I don't show up again for a few days, I'm buried in laundry and/or unpacking the endless mess that is all the things the Hubs, Newbie, Opie, and myself brought to the cottage. =) See you again soon!

Tootsies

I've been munching on a lot of these lately.

Better than an Oreo Blizzard. I know; a tall order, but they fit the bill.

Mmm...Mmm... Good.

Grab the Kleenex and cry me a river

The newlyweds are doing well and on a plane to Mexico this afternoon! Check out these AMAZING pictures from the wedding!!!

*photos removed*

And yes, I had to swim my way out of the room when I was done after seeing the pic of the Hubs and my little Newbie...and after seeing the pic of me and the flower girls.

Here's to what was hands-down the greatest wedding ever! ...Excuse me while I go have another sob fest.

Viva la Zebra

It all started with fajitas Thursday night.

Family was in town, the air was thick with anticipation, and the wedding celebration began.

My mom is a killer chef and she whipped out an entire cow worth of her legendary fajitas Thursday night for all the family that was in from out of town. Newbie lived it up out on the deck while we partied hard to the rhythm of pico de gallo and a T-minus 48 hour countdown.

I don't want to say Newbie stole the show; but Newbie stole the show.

Then the real fun began. Friday morning we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to tie up all the loose ends before the big day. If you've never run around like a chicken with your head cut off, I wouldn't recommend it. Chickens have it a little rough. And so did we. One way or another everything got done, thanks to my mother who is not nearly the procrastinator that I am. This was also the day I secured the presence of the press...something I was asked to do in October. What can I say? In high school I waited until the night before to write 7 page papers. Some things never change. I thrive under pressure.

Friday night we gathered at the zoo for the rehearsal. All I can say is: ANIMAL PRINT. I never thought I'd sign up to wear a zebra print shirt. But it happened. And I wasn't the only one sporting the African safari look. All sorts of animals came out to play:

How cute are these flower girls? If you're "aww"ing now, just wait until you see them in their dresses at the wedding- it will melt your heart. The other little sweetie didn't stay for dinner, so I don't have pics of her, but she'll be in the pictures to follow from the big day. And yes, these girls get their very own line up of pics because if I had my choice of two more little sisters- these would be them. Love love love these little girls...

More on the wedding is in the works...Y'all come back now, ya hear?!

Goin to the Chapel

Taking 5 from wedding weekend to pop in and say I think I lost about 15 pounds of baby weight on the dance floor last night.

The end.
