And it was grand.
The sun was shining, a chilly breeze was blowing, and the car thermometer read 53. All systems go for launch: it was time to hit the park! We met up with our play group at one of my favorite parks, and we had a blast.
Newbie LOVED his first playground experience. He has never been on a slide or in a swing or on the bouncy dinosaur on the lap of his way-too-big-for-that-equipment mama. I like to stretch the limits of playground equipment. The good news is, the dino didn't break. The bad news is, it probably coulda.
These pictures were taken by this mama and dear friend, and to say I have photography skill envy would be the understatement of the century. You'd think with so many talented friends, some of the skills would rub off, but I'm left wanting in that department. I can make a mean macaroni and cheese in the kitchen though, so I'm not entirely undomesticated.

This little lady is the only girl in the bunch- and she is such a trooper!

(I totally swiped all of these from my girlfriend's blog, but the pic above makes me laugh too, so I couldn't resist! Sorry for being a swiper, and thanks Miss A!)

I am so blessed to have such wonderful friends. First of all, they let me steal their pictures. Second, they are a ton of fun. I adore spending time with them and their sweet littles at play group, and I love their kiddos so much. Girlfriends are a good thing. A really good thing.
I caught a few ragamuffin pictures of my little man on the swing. He was so funny- he totally just hung there like a limp noodle. We're going to have to practice swinging this spring, but he didn't seem to mind being suspended there. Just think of how much more fun he'll have when he finds out he can pump his legs and hang onto the chains and not feel like he's about to topple right out of the thing! =)

Newbie and I spent the rest of the afternoon at the mall, investing more time than I'd like to admit shopping at Stride Rite and learning all about their 3 Step shoe program. And that, my friends, is how we lost the farm. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the "STEP system." Total sucker. And Newbie was in need of some good pre-walker shoes. It was the perfect storm. After spending Newbie's college education there, I got to come home and watch his pudgey little legs sans pants crawl around the house in his new kicks because it is just THAT warm outside. We are loving this taste of Spring and begging it to stay!
I'm off to make some green eggs and ham for brinner (breakfast at dinner) tonight because that's about as festive as we're getting this year for St. Patrick's day. Although, the Hubs did learn how to play an Irish jig on the guitar for Newbie this morning, so we'll probably bust that out again when he gets home from work tonight. Newbie's Mutte sent him a card reminding him to dance a "wee jig" today, and we have to make sure we get it done! =)
Wishing you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

LOVED parkin' it today! :o) SO. MUCH. FUN! And you ALWAYS make me laugh... just the way you word things and say things like "taken by miss a and poorly edited by yours truly." LOL You are too hard on yourself! :) LOL Happy St. Patty's to you too! Maybe one day us Mommas will get back out there and have a green beer together. (When we're all not prego!) :)
