When life hands you lemons, make a cranberry chicken sandwich.

It's another rainy icy day here in the Land of Cold and Wet.

So icy, in fact, that our local library shut down for the day, so our scheduled trip to Toddler Time with our Play Group flopped.  Several ladies couldn't make it this week, but me and Miss L decided to power through, and after scraping ice off my windshield for 15 minutes, there we sat, in the library parking lot, with two little kiddos all dressed up with no where to go.

So we made a quick Plan B and headed down the road to a darling little cafe that serves all kinds of fancy adult food like Cranberry Chicken Sandwiches and Hummus and lots of other healthy things I can't pronounce.  We ended up pulling in at 10:20 and managed to keep the boys entertained until we could order off the lunch menu at 11.  I'm counting the fact that the kids weren't squirming after sitting in a restaurant for 40 minutes with no food, in and of itself, a successful play date.  But it gets better, because the Cranberry Chicken Sandwich was delicious.

Miss L is due to have Baby E in 5 weeks- just a couple weeks after Newbie's first birthday.  I'm just impressed the woman still gets out of bed on her own every morning.  I'm pretty sure this is the point in my pregnancy last year when I had to rent a crane to haul me off the mattress.

Newbie munched on some Cheerios and Puffs before diving into a delicious apricot/banana combo.  And before we ate, he showed off his mad praying skills.  We've been working on folding our hands when we pray, and he's starting to get the hang of it!

It takes some serious concentration on his part. His face in these pics cracks me up.  What. a. little. ham.

Wait for it....

KABOOM!

This little boy is like a sponge.  He is learning so many things so quickly. Yesterday he was pointing to different family members when I said their name while looking through his little photo book, and the Hubs has him slam dunking in his little basketball hoop.  Before you know it, I'll have him doing the laundry!  =)

We ended up hanging out at the cafe for a good hour and half stuffing ourselves with delicious grub and conversation before the boys told us it was time to throw in the towel OR ELSE.  When you notice ants in the pants of an 11 month old, you have about T-minus two minutes before everything hits the fan.  We pulled a "check please!" and got out of there in time for a good afternoon nap.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't keeping my fingers crossed for an extra little cat nap late this afternoon for Mama and Newbie.  We've been pulling some long nights around here, and I wouldn't be disappointed if I got to catch a few more Z's before the bewitching hours of 4 to 7 hit.

I'm going to go see what I can do about burning off as much of Newbie's energy as possible in hopes of wearing him out for a 3:30 or 4:00 nap.  We're talking playing with Opie, bowling in the living room, and tag through the dining room.  We might even go outside and get the mail.  I'll pulling out all the stops here, folks.

Happy Wednesday!
