the birds are singing...
the flowers are blooming...
and we are weekending!
Keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle, and here we go!
Friday:
Newbie and I hit up the gardens again for a little mama/sidekick time. He loved it...just stared and stared at those butterflies until we found the waterfall where he had a full blown happy freak out because there's nothing better than a 12 foot waterfall when you are two feet tall.
Last night the Hubs got home in time to grill up a delicious burger spread while Newbie and I explored the backyard. We found a purple flower! WAHOO! The first bloom in our yard. We celebrated with baked beans and extra ketchup on our hamburgers.
Saturday:
Aunt Corndog and Uncle J had Newbie and me over for their world-class "sloppy toms" (sloppy joes made with turkey instead of joe) and then took us to the park where this mama almost dislocated her shoulder on the playground's newest death trap. Somebody came in and kaboomed the joint, adding a few shiny new structures to play on...

I felt like an acrobat at the circus, minus the skill and plus the life-threatening lack of upper body strength. As you might have guessed, it was an excellent combination....for disaster. Take a good look at those facial expressions in the pics above...INTENSE.
And the craziest part? For ages 5 to 12. Really? REALLY?!!?
Despite almost dislodging our limbs, we had a great time. Newbie was digging the slides on the playground and loved investigating the wide variety of sticks and dirt on the nature trail.
Ha! I just noticed those pictures showcase the three hats he rocked out today because I couldn't decide on what was appropriate for the temperature....amateur mother over here! =)
When we got home, I busted out the chalk because chalk is just what you do on the first day the temp hits 60 degrees.
Baby jeans dusted in chalk are my new favorite thing.
Did y'all know bubbles taste good? Because apparently, they do. So do ants and dirt, but that's a story for another day.
Tomorrow:
If we can fend off the rain, we're headed to opening day for our local baseball team. Hokey Pete, are we ever excited about this! Newbie just might get his first taste of a hotdog out of the deal because the Hubs laid on the "pretty please with sugar on top...we'll mash mash mash mash mash it up really good- I promise" and its just too hard for me to say "no" to those golden brown eyes...and the sugar on top...and babies in baseball uniforms eating hotdogs. Pictures to come!
Happy Saturday, Friends!
