Good Read

This morning Newbie and I slowed down and spent some time reading. I l-o-v-e curling up with a good book, and I am so happy to have a little munchkin to share my love of reading with.

After we finished reading Trucks, Chicka Chicka ABC, and Little Quack (all riveting) Newbie dozed with his stuffed puppy dog while I finished reading The Help. Have mercy. What a good book. Powerful. Thought provoking. Insightful. Convicting. The perfect book to read with a warm cup of coffee. I have no idea why it took me since August to finish it. I am guessing it has something to do with how busy I was gorging on ice cream and watching "The Biggest Loser" while I was pregnant last fall. But I think I could curl up and read the whole thing cover to cover again tomorrow. It was just that good.

Now I'm on a mission to find another good read. Because there's nothing I dislike more than to spend a summer day trying to curl up and enjoy a book that just isn't any good. Any suggestions???

Newbie is tuckered out today because we had a fun visitor over last night. A good friend of ours who we haven't seen in several months stopped by to meet Newbie for the first time.

Newbie really enjoyed the visit. HA!

The picture lies...he really did enjoy the visit. It was just around 9:45 at night, and that face is typically what we see at about that time of day. He can be one fussy baby boy anywhere between 5 and 10 at night.

Tonight we are headed off for a quick visit to the zoo before attending a graduation ceremony with a cranky seven week old...I'll let you know how it goes! For now I have to get some laundry going so I have something to wear other than pj's for the rest of the week.

  1. I just finished "same kind of different as me". It was the best book I've read in quite some time. Written by 2 men, the first, Denver, a modern day slave from Louisiana. The second, Ron, a millionaire art dealer. The book is about their evolving relationship and how God worked through 1 woman to change both of their lives. Very compelling.
